I have always been drawn to the metaphysical and spiritual. Buddhist and Jewish teachings, meditation, quotes from Zen masters. My appreciation shows itself in artistic creativity.

Earth Spirit

Expressing the relationship between earth, humans, angels and mystery has been energizing and sustaining. The drawings bubble up, similar to stream of consciousness writing. Black and white charcoal on paper as the medium has given rise to strong graphic elements that I believe lead to powerful visual statements.

Mourner's Kaddish - Prayer of Sanctification

I started this series on the very morning that my dear friend of over forty years lay dying, unbeknownst to me. At this time, I was involved with allegorical art, but I was compelled to make the first painting (#2 As Death lifted the trumpet.....). It was started and finished in the same last three hours that she passed away. Her muse has guided me as I have kept painting one after another picture based on the concepts of this prayer and the beauty and power of its words. I will be creating a book from this project. These paintings are available in full size archival prints.
