ARTIST'S STATEMENT

Because my artistic philosophy holds that beauty is profoundly important to all humans, I have a simple artistic goal: to create beauty. I work in a spirit of quiet, wholehearted passion with the thrust of imagination, spontaneity, love for color and curvilinear forms. I care about meanings and technical mastery in even the most fantastic, allegorical images.

I am moved by the generosity, beauty and spirit of this world and bend in this direction, even in the face of the terror and injustice so pronounced in our world today. This opens the doors of wonder and compassion and inspires my art.

Although I illuminate contemporary inner life, I love traditional art forms and artists. Brueghel, Goya, Picasso and Reubens are among my favorites, and the list is full with the splendor of many artists. I keep to traditional methods of art making because I like the inherent beauty and quality of the materials.
